personal preference [SENSITIVE CONTENT]I find black on white ("light mode") more readable, especially in bright environments (e.g., with the sun shining on the screen), while the "dark mode" is easier on my eyes.
Hence, I use both, depending on the time of day / environment.

    @me @eniko This is me, too. I deliberately got an apartment with a beautiful, panoramic view. I didn't consider at the time that that means it's often quite sunny in there.

    My laptop screen isn't that bright. If I used dark mode in the daytime, all I'd see would be my own reflection in the screen!

    OTOH, when the sun goes down, light mode is too bright.

    I'm increasingly ๐Ÿ˜’ with web sites and apps that don't automatically switch mode along with my OS. (Reddit, WTF?)
